Fascinating. Tell me more about the glyph?

As I was searching the internet for something that resembles the glyph I came across this article. These carvings (especially that second picture) are very similar to the carving in my dream, but triangular and upside-down. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/severe-drought-in-the-amazon-reveals-ancient-face-carvings-180983143/

The square-ish face? Interesting. I’m writing something where a character sees a glyph in a dream — also a face but more ornate: a woman’s profile, surrounded by leaves and holding her hand out. Like a pictogram/glyph from a Mayan stelae. But here’s the kicker, he sees it during a dream where he’s drowning. Maybe there’s a thread here worth pulling on…{strokes stubble on chin}

Yes the squarish face is very similar! Your story sounds compelling! I look forward to reading it :)

It is bizarre! I was a little creeped out when my husband told me about the shared dream.

Yes it's real! It's "creative nonfiction," meaning nonfiction with narrative elements. Similar to memoir, but not quite memoir.

This post is amazing! Thank you for sharing it. You’re a fascinating individual Annie.

So I’ll throw mine on here. Despite basically just telling it to you in person 😅 here is the non Atlantean versions

These all start the same. I am on the beach in a small group sitting on some driftwood logs around a forest pit. I look around and can almost feel something is wrong, it’s a lovely day there’s maybe 30 or 40 people within eye site. I stand up going to almost vocalize my unease. When the tide starts retreating. I know instantly we have to get to high ground.

I appear to be the only one who’s seen news footage or seen videos about it, for no one else is even mildly concerned.

I start saying to the people in my goup we have to get to higher ground.

Then looking about at everyone else yelling, imploding them to start running. I’m fairly sure a group of youths shout at me to shut up.

Because of my insistence some follow me. We start running up the beach to the little street with shops and restaurants. As we start running the wave starts coming in. And the screaming begins.

In all of them about 7 - 8 people follow me.

In the first version we go to my favorite restaurant, a blue building on the left side of the street not far away. Climbing a small ladder on the side of the building. Once ontop I realize my tragic error. The building is old, I know for a fact that it cannot withstand the impact. Or possibly not even be high enough.

I try and get the group that followed me to go to a building higher up the hill, but they don’t want to. I could ah e just gone myself. But two of the people were a pregnant woman and her daughter. So I stay behind and promise not to make the same mistake again as the wave hits and the building crumbles beneath the wave.

The second time I almost make the same mistake. We climb the blue building. But I realize right away that the red restaurant across the way will make it. I managed to get the woman and her child to follow me and two others.

I would have gotten all of them or follow me but there was one guy who cockily said he was a cop and that this one would be fine (essentially the same vibe as the cop from The Day After Tomorrow, that leads people away from the library only to wine up frozen not that far away)

I’m the last to climb the ladder, getting onto the roof just as the water hits my heels. I look across and lament to fools who stayed. Watching the cops face as the building disappears.

The third I insist on the red restaurant right away. When the fuzz tries to pipe up, I tell him he can shove it and if he wants to live he’ll follow me. We get onto the roof with time to watch it come in.

The fourth goes exactly the same pretty much, except I look o’er the side of the building as the water has came up so far that it needs only about half a foot to get to us. I couldn’t help but wonder if even this building was safe? Was the reason the dream ends right here because it gets o’er taken too? I did glance back behind the building to see it leads to even higher ground, slight forested hills or mountains.

The last time I don’t run at all. As everyone freaks out. I calmly reach behind the driftwood bench. Pick up my stave, walking out several feet where the ocean once was. And the pregnant woman, who I had referred to as my girlfriend before things kicked off this time. Calls out for me to come with them and run. I simply say “ I got this”. I get into position. Looking at the massive wave shout “you shall not pass!” While rising my stave and my foot, then stomp the two simultaneously. The wave freezes, then slowly comes it while getting smaller and smaller, til when it fully comes in it’s barely above my ankles.

The Atlantis one was vastly different. If you want to can put that one as well.
