That was worth the initial “okay just give it a minute…” I love how it feels like an exercise at first and then opens up into a landscape and you meet a new friend in there somewhere, buy a coke, stare up at the lights, wonder together who’s gonna die first, laugh at how dumb that is, and then you both walk home in an exalted loneliness. Maybe it stars snowing.
this is very very interesting to listen to. evoking an unbelievable horror tension. its like being in a dark room knowing the light is coming on and something terrible will be there and the sound is the sound if rising tension and horror not yet manifest as vision.
Have you heard a yaybehar by any chance?. i think you would love it. check out gorkem sen yaybehar on you tube and have mind blown with the sound scape.
Yeah awesome! Australian institute of music. Bit of a corporate money making scheme as far as schools go, but I did have some great teachers that ran a sound art festival here and could beep and boop with the best of em. I learnt a lot.
Doesn’t really inform heaps of what I’ve been doing but at least substackers can be confident when I’m asking them to roar for dinosaur novelty songs that it comes from a strong conceptual lineage 😅
I love creative outputs of all kinds. This was fun, it produced that singular annoyance of wanting to swat a fly or mosquito disturbing the peace?! Tension was created successfully. Well done!

It is 100% an exercise hehe. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for commenting!

Very cool, up my alley having been taught by composers that work in these types of fields. Interested to hear more about the studies as they continue.
Thank you Alex! And that’s cool, same. Where did you study?

It reminded me of Kubrick, Glass, Penderecki 💙🙏

Annie, I love it! What did you play and record with, gear-wise? Have you listened to Andre 3000's "New Blue Sun"? Definitely NOT OutKasty.
Thanks Doug! DX-7 into Reaper. It’s unedited save a little EQ. I improvised with the concept three times and picked my favorite take.
❤️❤️❤️
Funnily enough, my cat pricked up its ears, too!
Very cool. My cat was mesmerized.
Thanks Colin!
Just back from a meditation weekend - nice timing! V. interesting.
Would be keen to hear more. Would definitely be keen to hear spoken word plus this kinda thing.
You found my last nerve!
